For more than 20 years, Maria has dedicated herself to helping leaders and teams communicate with clarity and develop strategic plans that have a sustainable impact. A trusted advisor to executive leaders across the United States, Mexico, and Europe, Maria has been highly esteemed for her ability to offer practical solutions grounded in research and relevant experience. Organizations Maria has worked with include Turner Construction, ITHAKA, Genentech, RAINN.org, Aptis Global, Costco, ResMed, San Diego State University, and dozens more.

Maria is the bestselling author of Bridge Builders: How Superb Communicators Get What They Want in Business and in Life. She received her B.A. and M.A. in English, with concentrations in applied linguistics and multicultural communication and technical communication, from California Polytechnic State University. She is currently pursuing a joint Ph.D. from San Diego State University and Claremont Graduate University. Her research focuses on education diplomacy and the role of storytelling to counter bias, hate, and racism.

Maria grew up in Mexico City and immigrated to the United State when she was sixteen years old. In the process of adapting to a new culture, language and attitudes, she developed a keen understanding of how the ability to build bridges to others’ hearts and minds is critical to achieving one’s loftiest aspirations. She serves on the board of The David’s Harp Foundation.
