Dr. Daniel Reinholz has dedicated his career to researching and promoting racial and gender equity in STEM fields. In particular, he focuses on the role of implicit bias in teaching and how data can help educators address biases that arise in their classrooms.
To support this work, he co-developed the free, open-source classroom observation tool EQUIP, which provides actionable data to teachers on patterns of equity in their classrooms. Dr. Reinholz has received $5.5 million in grants to fund his work and has over 75 peer-reviewed publications in STEM education. He is an assistant professor of mathematics education at San Diego State University. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics and science education from the University of California, Berkeley. Daniel is also an avid drummer and enjoys playing jazz, punk rock, and heavy metal music.
